Thousands of advertisements have been released over the years across the world. Each one more beautiful (or worse) than the previous one but the quest to find out about the first ever doesn’t end. Here’s some information about the first Television advertisement.
The first commercial was broadcast on July 1, 1941, over the New York station WNBT (aka WNBC).
The TV advertisement was for watchmaker Bulova. It was broadcast at a peak hour just before a baseball game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies. It read ‘Bulova Watch Time’ with a tagline “America runs on Bulova time”. It is believed that Bulova paid between $4 to $9 for this advert.
